Meet Cindy Johnston
Insurance, Financial and Patient Care Coordinator
Have you ever wanted to know if dentist offices keep a naughty list? Did you know that there is such a thing as canine dentistry? Read this interview with our fabulous Cindy Johnston (RDA (Registered Dental Assistant), and Insurance, Financial and Patient Care Coordinator) to learn about her role at our practice and to get answers to these pressing questions! 😉
Why did you decide on a career in dentistry?
I was always curious, never afraid or scared, as a child, going to the dentist! All the "tools" interested me and I LOVED MY DENTIST and the TOY BOX!
What is your favorite thing about working in a dental office?
Helping patients understand the need for dental care and alleviating their fear.
What should patients know about Dr. Emam’s dental practice?
Dr. Emam is gentle, kind and very up on the latest dental techniques and procedures. She's always taking dental continuing education classes to help her patients.
Please share a favorite dental story.
It wasn't actually working on a human patient. When I first became an RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) in 1979, I actually assisted in veterinary dental surgery on a Doberman Pinscher show dog who had broken both canine teeth; he was chewing on his kennel door. He needed two root canals and two crowns. This situation was written up in the San Mateo newspaper at that time.
What are some of the “behind the scenes” things you do every day at work?
Verifying patient insurance info so if they have questions about dental coverage, I'm already prepared to help.
What would you tell someone who is afraid of going to the dentist or afraid of getting a dental procedure?
Give Dr. Emam's office a try and see for yourself. Dr. Emam is truly one of the BEST dentists I have worked for in my 35-year dental career. You will be very impressed! Your fears will be eliminated after your first visit with Dr. Emam.
We’ve noticed that you [Dr. Emam, Faby, and Cindy] are like family. Why do you think the three of you are such a great team?
First of all, we LOVE each other and that's no lie. We spend a lot of time together and we believe in the same philosophy.....taking care of our patients like they are family as well.
Do you keep a “naughty list” of patients who cancel appointments last-minute and then send it to Santa at the end of the year?
A 'NAUGHTY LIST'? Of course! Santa always wants that list… Even the "tooth fairy" is notified...So, beware!
